"A Knight In Shining Armor"
(episode #25)

Bobby Sherman plays songwriter Bobby Conway, a young man struggling to make it in the music business. He travels to the Partridge Family's home to convince them to perform his music, only to find them out of town. Undaunted, he takes the liberty of using the sound equipment in their garage to record a "demo" tape, with the intention of leaving them a note along with the tape. But the Partridges come home and find him in their garage. He proves to them that he can write wonderful melodies but the lyrics have escaped him. Danny introduces him to Lionel Poindexter (Wes Stern), a kooky, tone deaf, eccentric young man who writes words with no music. Together they collaborate on the song, "Stephanie", and the Partridge Family performs it at one of their concerts. They are encouraged by the reception the song gets at the concert and decide to become full time writing partners.
This show was the 'spin-off' for the short lived TV series, "Getting Together", which ran from September 1971 to January 1972.
